Welcome and Orientation

We’ve put together this orientation to help you get the most of our Meetups.

How the Meetups work
Each of our Meetups have their own specific day of the month and times that they start, though we try to stay consistent around a 6:30PM start and ending no later than 8-8:30pm. If a Meetup group is marked as ‘Inactive’, it’s because they haven’t scheduled anything in over 6 months or they’re currently lacking an organizer &/or hosting venue in that region.

As a WordPress Tampa Bay group member you’re also welcome to suggest and plan your own meetups. So if you have an idea for getting people together, please go ahead and suggest a Meetup.

Time and Meetup Format
Our Monthly Meetups begin at 6:30pm. We tend to network from 6:00-6:30, giving people a chance to get to parking, etc and then we start the Meetup no later than 6:30pm – the event listing details the agenda for the night. We know that coming to your first meetup can be stressful and scary, but don’t worry, we’re very friendly. You are welcome to bring a friend. Just hit the +1 button on your RSVP.

Get Involved
If you want to get the most out of WordPress, we highly recommend you get involved, learn from others and perhaps lend a hand as well.

Also, If you are interested in doing presentations or speaking, you do not have to be the world’s renowned expert to do a presentation with us. As long as you have something to share, we would love to have you present a talk or workshop. Send us a message with your ideas, using this form: https://www.wptampabay.org/speakers/call/

What do I do now
The next thing we want you to do is come along to the next meetup. If you have not already, head over to our meetup page and RSVP to an event.

We recommend joining the Tampa Bay WordPress Slack Chat as it’s a good place to get your questions answered. We also make regular announcements of our upcoming Meetups across the network on our Facebook Group so join that as well.

If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with one of the organizers or a current member. We would be happy to help you. We look forward to seeing you and thanks again for becoming a part of our meetup group.
